After years of struggling, the Sons of Hephaestus are finally getting their day in court.

We have fought for the rights of Mars from the earliest days of human settlement, and for the first time, we are being allowed to make our case in a court with the authority to restore the Red Planet to its natural state.

But the Gaians will do anything to perpetuate their destructive crusade. They know we can win in court, so they are trying to transform the surface as quickly as they can, in the hopes that the court's ruling will be too late, and their control of the planet will remain by a simple inertia.

Hidden agents across the planet are waging a guerilla terraforming campaign. I need you to keep their actions in check, make sure Mars stays as close as possible to its native state until the trial concludes. That is the only way we have a hope of winning.

A Home of Our Own is a legendary live event that runs occasionally, usually starts at 12:00 AM UTC on some Saturdays. During the event's runtime it can be reached by tapping an icon of Mars underneath the icon that allows you to Fast-Forward worlds. Tapping the event icon would take you directly to the event planet, a barely habitable Normal mode Mars. The world is played with the Sons of Hephaestus faction.

Four milestones can be reached in the event, each giving different rewards. This event starts with the Culture values that come with the Sons of Hephaestus. (30% Conservation, 15% Industrial, No Transformation Eco-Policy, Sky Farm construction cost halved)

Variants[]

This live event is available in five different variants:

  • Normal: A regular Normal difficulty game.
  • 24 Hours: Complete event within 24-hour timer.
  • Expert Mode: An Expert difficulty event game with challenging features.
  • Exact pressure goal: Normal difficulty, but pressure has to be maintained at exactly 5,610 Pa and cannot be above or below the goal. This replaces the 24 hour-variant in 2023.
  • Exact pressure goal (24 hours): Same as above but with a 24-hour timer. It ran from 9PM on Mondays-9PM on Tuesdays in late 2022.

Milestones[]

Milestones can be viewed by clicking the event icon (in this case it is Mars) while player are already on the event world.

This is also the place where collect your rewards after you have completed the milestones.

You can earn these milestones in any order (except the final milestone; that one is last).

Keeping it Cool[]

Mars was meant to be a cold world, but the Gaians are trying to warm it up to derail our case. Return the surface to its native state!

Goal: Decrease temperature to 232,350 mK

Rewards: 5,000,000c & 10 GP

Achievement text:

Very well done. The planet is nearing its original surface temperature, now we just need to keep it there.

Parting the Clouds[]

The Martian atmosphere is meant to be thin and barren, and that is how it should remain. Stop the Gaians from releasing harmful gases into the pristine sky!

Goal: Decrease pressure to 5,610 Pa

Rewards: 10 GP, Bronze Governor Pack, & 10,000,000c

Variant: Maintain pressure at exactly 5,610 Pa (24 hours)

Achievement text:

Finally, the clouds have parted and the Martian sky is made new again. Make sure it stays that way.

Clearing the Air[]

Oxygen is not simply a life-giving element, it is also corrosive and toxic when introduced to a planet where it doesn't belong. Scrub it from the atmosphere, before it does even more damage!

Goal: Decrease oxygen to 12,240 ppm

Rewards: Silver Governor Pack, 25 GP, & 20,000,000c

Achievement text:

Nicely done. The Gaians can enjoy all the oxygen they want on their own worlds, but not on ours.

Power to the People[]

Keeping the planet pristine is not enough to secure our claim to it, we must also demonstrate that it is our home. Increasing our population will make it much harder for the Gaians to take it from us.

Goal: Increase population to 2,500,000

Rewards: 6 Fast-Forward Hours & 50 GP

Achievement text:

With legions of fellow Hephaestians at our back, the Gaians will never be able to take this world from us!

A Home of Our Own[]

The Gaians are trying to steal what is rightfully ours. Can you help us return Mars to its natural state?

Goal: Complete all milestones

Rewards: 10 cards for Neil Jansson, 24 Fast-Forward Hours, 100 GP

Random Events[]

These random events can only happen during this live event. All live-event-exclusive random events have the title of their respective live event.

Temperature Increase[]

The Gaians have tapped into a thermal vent to warm up the surface!

Our temperature has changed by [number] mK.

Increases temperature.

Pressure Increase[]

The Gaians have released a massive cloud of atmosphere-thickening gasses!

Our pressure has changed by [number] Pa.

Increases pressure.

Oxygen Increase[]

The Gaians have released hidden stores of pure oxygen to transform the atmosphere!

Our oxygen has change by [number] ppm.

Increases oxygen.

Facility Destruction[]

Gaian insurgents have staged a coordinated strike!

[number] of our facilities have been destroyed:

- [facility] in [city].

Destroys anywhere up to 12 (highest recorded) random facilities which can be in different cities.

Strategy[]

"A Home of Our Own" is one of a very easy legendary live event. Here are some tips and strategies for all variants.

  • Build Hab Units in cities.
    • Random events could cause an ecological collapse and decrease population not in habitation facilities.
  • Research Aerostat Platforms or Spaceports.
    • If you choose to research Aerostat Platforms, you could use it in addition to culture revenue for a source of credits.
    • If you choose to research Spaceports, placing a few should give a decent source of revenue. (Not applied in Expert)
  • Spend Culture Points towards Industrial, then Conservation, and then Democracy.
    • Alternatively, if you are able to accumulate over 50,000,000c really quickly (usually through boosting with high-level governors), you can build the Lagrange Academy, which allows you to freely adjust culture. (Not applied in Expert)
  • Use Aerostat Platforms to decrease heat.
    • Alternatively, if you are able to accumulate over 50,000,000c really quickly, you can build the Soletta, which allows you to adjust heat in range from 187,200mK to 387,000mK. (Not recommended in 24 Hours if governor level is VI or lower) (Not applied in Expert)
  • Use Biofixture Labs to decrease pressure.
  • Remove the atmosphere to remove all the oxygen and complete the third milestone.
  • Use Hab Domes and Spaceports to increase population. (Prioritize before pressure if in 24 Hours)
    • Beware of the frozen or vaporized water. To prevent potential flooding, either:
      • Lower the temperature below 200,000mK.
      • Place cities at very high elevation (like in the Tharsis region, especially Olympus Mons, since that's the highest peak on the planet.).
  • The moons Phobos and Deimos can be used in two ways:
    • The first is to build only one Hab Dome, upgrade it to Level X, and then use all the remaining slots in Spaceports, so the player will have no revenue problems during this event. Utilizing Revenue Governors’ effects is a good idea. (Not applied in Expert)
    • The second way is to set up Level X Hab Domes with few Spaceports. This helps with the fourth milestone.

Finalizing Text[]

The judgement has just been announced: the courts have sided with us, and a ban on terraforming operations is now in place.

No Gaian will ever properly appreciate what you have accomplished here, but that does not diminish it at all. You have saved the identity of this world, and preserved it for future generations to marvel at and enjoy.

A Home of Our Own Updated Finalizing Text

Updated finalizing text.

Thank you, friend. This was a big thing, and you pulled it off flawlessly.

Important: only press "Complete Event" when you are ready to leave the event world, because after that, the same world can't continue playing that. Also, this event can't restart and complete it more than once until the event occurs again in the future.
