541-485 Million Years Ago
It's the Cambrian Explosion!
During this period, life on Earth WENT NUTS. With the recent advent of multi-cellular organisms, evolution kicked into overdrive and life exploded across the oceans of Earth. There were more species alive during the Cambrian period than during the rest of Earth's history, combined.
Expect frequent and wild shifts in your biosphere, and rapidly changing surface conditions.
About[]
This world is only playable after Rodinia has been completed. Completing Cambria will unlock Cretacea.
Based on the in-game description of this planet, would expect it to already have some Biomass when starts the game, but this isn't the case. If play using the Biospheres option however, there are already a number of species present. The only issue is that they are producing a lot of oxygen, and that oxygen is immediately starting to kill all of them, putting in a rather pressing situation right from the start.
Like on Vaalbara and Rodinia, victory is achieved when reach 100% independence and have fulfilled either the mission Alana gave (paradise habitability) or the one Red gave (kept stats within 5% of original stats). You don't need to complete the normal goal for the faction you chose.
Regardless of what did on Vaalbara and Rodinia, you can still choose to fulfill Red's or Alana's mission.
You have been granted access to a secret project under development by a foreign power: an automated system currently being taught how to terraform a planet.
One side wants you to terraform to Paradise, the other wants you to maintain the starting stats of the planet. it's up to you who to side with. At the time you reach completion for each world, your choice will be finalized in the computer's memory.
Strategy[]
- The temperature is slightly too hot as the planet is in a hothouse period. Decrease it along with the pressure, oxygen and water.
Biosphere[]
Cambria has 15 native species when start a new game. Click the links for more info on biospheres and phyla and traits.

Trivia[]
- During the Cambrian (539-485 Ma), the sea levels were rising steadily to peak in the Ordovician, accompanied by relatively low oxygen levels of 12.5%, high carbon dioxide concentration of 0.45% and a barren surface.
- The Cambrian period is the time when life develops a lot of multicellular species in a short period of time. That's why it's called Cambrian explosion.
